Press release
Elster Metering, Canada, a leading supplier of electricity and water meters and related advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and automated meter reading (AMR) equipment and systems in Canada, and part of the Elster Group, today announced that Jack Robertson, vice president and general manager of Elster Metering, Canada, has been selected to World Generation’s Class of 2008.
Each year, World Generation editors nominate and interview industry leaders to honor them for their vision and their companies for innovative approaches that shape industry trends under deregulation. Robertson has been instrumental in helping meet the Ontario government’s Smart Metering Initiative.
“Jack Robertson’s vision and drive have helped position Elster as a foremost provider for demand response,” said Dick Flanagan, publisher of World-Generation magazine. “Jack has been instrumental in forging Elster’s global solutions and successful, long-term partner relationships.
“Under his leadership, Elster Metering, Canada has worked with five Ontario-area utilities to successfully implement a robust, customer specific supply chain process to deliver more than 10,000 sealed meters a week,” said Flanagan. “The program helped Elster to successfully contribute to the government’s Smart Metering Initiative. This type of visionary leadership is what won Jack a place in the Class of 2008.”
Elster, along with five of Ontario’s largest utilities has helped contribute to the Ontario government’s goal of installing 800,000 smart meters by year end 2007 and a total of 4.5 million meters by the end of 2010, resulting in a smart meter on every home and business in the province. Using Elster’s EnergyAxis® System, these utilities are operating the largest deployment of two way mesh network AMI solutions in the world today, bringing in hourly interval data from more than 500,000 endpoints daily. Toronto and Ottawa today each read hourly interval data from more than 200,000 end points nightly.
Last summer, Elster reached a milestone with shipment of its millionth EnergyAxis System smart meter, designating EnergyAxis the most widely deployed AMI system in North America featuring true two-way Radio Frequency mesh communications.
“We are honored to have Jack Robertson recognized by the prestigious World-Generation magazine,” said Mark Munday, Elster Electricity president and CEO. “Jack has made tremendous contributions to our company, this industry and to the Ontario government.”
World-Generation magazine named Munday to its Class of 2006. Sharon Allan, president of Elster Integrated Solutions, was named to World-Generation’s Class of 2007.
