Auckland, New Zealand; and Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, May 3, 2007 Metrix in Auckland New Zealand Installs 5000 Piece Elster Electricity EnergyAxis® System

Metrix, a division of Mighty River Power Limited, and Elster Electricity, LLC, a leading provider of metering solutions worldwide and part of Elster Group, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of highly accurate, high quality, integrated metering and utilization solutions to the gas, electricity and water industries, announce that Metrix is deploying Elster’s EnergyAxis® System in Auckland, New Zealand. Metrix is initially deploying 5,000 meters and testing the system’s two-way meter-to-meter communication capabilities.

Metrix is testing the system to evaluate how smart metering technology will enable it to add value to the services it delivers to retail electric providers, and to energy consumers. The EnergyAxis System is a metering automation system that utilizes a 900 MHz controlled mesh network with Elster’s residential electronic REX® meters and A3 ALPHA® meter collectors. Metrix selected Elster's EnergyAxis System after evaluating various technologies globally and visiting several EnergyAxis System deployments in North America.
